Classic Brownie

Brownies are universal beloved treats, liked because of its rich and fudgy texture and deep chocolate flavor. Making this sweet treat at home is an easy game as it is quite straightforward, ensuring you to have perfect brownie every time.

So lets get started:-

 

Ingredients

Unsalted Butter – 1cup

Cocoa Powder – 1cup

Granulated Sugar – 1cup

Brown Sugar – 1cup

Salt- 1tsp

Chocolate Chips -1tsp

Egg -4

Vanilla Essence -2tsp

All purpose Flour -1cup

Instructions

  • Start by preheating the oven at 350 degree F or 170 degree C.
  • Line up the baking pan with parchment paper after greasing it with oil.
  • Take a mixing bowl and add melted butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar with the help of a hand whisker or electric whisker. Mixing both the sugars together will give the brownies a chewy and deep flavor.
  • Add eggs one by one to get the perfect texture and beat it after each addition.

  • Now add vanilla extract in the mixture which would enhance the flavor of the batter
  • Now its turn to sift all the dry ingredients. In a large bowl add All purpose flour, cocoa powder and salt. Sifting will help you to remove all the lumps and makes it sure that the dry ingredients are ready to mix in the wet ingredients.
  • Now  add the dry sifted ingredients into the wet batter and mix it gently until combined well. The batter  should be smooth and thick, and do not overmix the batter this would lead to the hard brownies.
  • In order to get more chocolaty brownies, you can add more chocolate chips here but this step is completely optional.
  • Now transfer the batter into pre prepared baking pan, spread it equally with the help of spatula and bake it for 25-30 minutes or you can insert the toothpick into the brownies to check whether it is cooked or not, the toothpick should come out clean or with few crumbs.
  • Let the brownies cool completely on a cooling rack and cut them into the shape you want.

  • Hand Whisker: To well combine all the dry ingredients.
  • Electric Whisker: To beat the egg and to prepare the batter.

  • Mixing Bowl: To prepare the batter.
  • Cooling rack: To cool down the brownie completely.
  • Measuring cups and spoons: To accurately measure the ingredients.
  • Sharp knife: To cup the brownies.
  • Parchment paper: To prevent the brownies from sticking to the pan.
  • Oven: To bake the brownies.

How to store Brownies?

Short term storage (2 days)

You can store the brownies in an airtight container or can seal the container with plastic wrap. This way you can keep them at room temperature.

You can individually wrap the brownies and keep them at room temperature. Avoid to keep them in the direct sunlight to prevent its richness and texture.

Medium term storage (1 week)

You can cover the brownies with plastic wrap individually or keep them in refrigerator.

You can use airtight container which would prevent them from getting dry and keep in the refrigerator.

For long term storage (3 months)

When brownies are completely cooled, place them into the freezer. Cooling them completely prevents the ice crystals from forming and keep the texture intact. Before that wrap them individually with cling wrap and put them in freezer safe bag.

Keep them at room temperature for 15 – 20 minutes to get them ready for eating.

  • Do not overmix the batter.

  • The egg should be completely beat to get a cranky layer on the top.

How to bring variations?

  • Here are some great variations to take your brownies to the next level:
  • You can swap the vanilla extract with almond or hazelnut extract.
  • If you are a fan of nuts, add some chopped nuts of your choice like almonds, cashews, peanuts, hazelnuts, pistachios and walnuts into the batter.
  • Add 1 tsp of any citrus zest like orange or lemon juice into the batter.
  • A small pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg powder into the batter will give a little bit spicy flavor.
  • To get a mint flavor, replace the extract with mint extract or add some crushed peppermint candies on the top of brownies.
